Research Interests

Assistant in Research for Dr. Chris Lonigan's Reading for Understanding grant projects at the Florida Center for Reading Research. These projects are exploring: 1) the role of inhibitory skill in the acquisition of reading skills and 2) the eye-movement behavior of skilled vs. less skilled readers. Recent research has focused on the development of component processes of reading comprehension (i.e., memory, knowledge access, knowledge integration, and inferencing) in school-age children. Potential avenues for future research include harnessing rapidly advancing technologies (e.g., mobile computing) in the data collection process to augment and streamline existing practices and, more importantly, to gain access to behavioral data that has previously been unavailable to researchers.
